How do UAE residents check São Tomé and Príncipe visa rules?

São Tomé and Príncipe’s Serviço de Migração e Fronteiras (SMF) provides the official immigration information and an online eVisa/entry-authorisation service. The correct route depends on nationality, passport type, purpose and intended stay; UAE residence by itself does not create a single rule for every traveller.

The SMF eVisa system requires applicants to provide accurate information and retain the application/process reference used to check the status of an entry-authorisation request. An approval or visa is still only one condition for entry, so the trip documents presented at the border should remain consistent with the application.

Documents to prepare

  • Passport used for the application and travel
  • Official eVisa/entry-authorisation application where required
  • Valid UAE residence evidence for UAE-based applicants
  • Return/onward travel details
  • Accommodation or host information
  • Evidence of sufficient funds for the trip
  • Purpose-specific invitation or business documents where relevant
  • Copy of the application reference and issued authorisation/visa
Use only genuine, accurate and verifiable documents. Adjust the checklist to the passport nationality, purpose, funding and personal circumstances.

Use the official SMF eVisa channel when your passport requires it

Start at the SMF website and use its eVisa service rather than a look-alike commercial website. Check whether your nationality is visa-exempt, needs an eVisa/entry authorisation, or needs another immigration route. Keep the reference number generated by the official system and recheck the status before travel.

Build a consistent visitor file

Names, passport details, dates, accommodation, transport, leave dates, funding and sponsorship should remain consistent across the application and supporting evidence. If one part of the trip changes, update every affected document before submission.

For supporting evidence, see our bank-statement guide, cover-letter guide and day-by-day itinerary generator.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Using a commercial look-alike site instead of the SMF portal
  • Assuming UAE residence makes every passport visa-exempt
  • Losing the official application/reference number
  • Entering dates that do not match flights, accommodation or leave dates
  • Treating an entry authorisation as a guarantee of admission at the border

Frequently asked questions

Is there an official São Tomé and Príncipe eVisa website?

Yes. The Serviço de Migração e Fronteiras provides an official eVisa/entry-authorisation service from its government immigration website.

Does UAE residence determine whether I need a visa?

No. The route depends primarily on passport nationality and the purpose and length of stay. Check the official SMF rule for the passport being used.

Why should I keep my application reference number?

The official SMF system uses the process/reference number to check the status of the entry-authorisation request.

Does an issued eVisa guarantee entry?

No. The SMF terms state that a visa or entry authorisation is only one condition for admission. Border authorities still assess entry.

Can HEBVIZA issue a São Tomé visa?

No. HEBVIZA can help organise documentation; only the competent São Tomé and Príncipe authorities can issue an entry authorisation or visa.
