Where to submit a Germany Schengen visa application in the UAE
The German Missions in the UAE state that short-stay Schengen visa applications are submitted through VFS Global by appointment. Germany should be the main destination for the trip: normally, the country where you will spend the longest stay in the Schengen area.
- Applicants living in Dubai or the Northern Emirates should submit at the VFS Global centre in Dubai.
- Applicants living in Abu Dhabi or Al Ain should submit at the VFS Global centre in Abu Dhabi.
If no appointment is available
The German Missions advise applicants to join the waitlist when no appointment is available. Registered applicants are notified in chronological order when slots become available. The missions note that peak demand is typically from May to September, when booking a slot without first registering on the waitlist is unlikely.
Do not rely on unofficial appointment sellers or payment links. Confirm your appointment route through the official German Missions or VFS Global pages.
When to apply
An application can be submitted up to six months before travel. The German Missions state that processing can take up to 15 days, but applicants should allow additional time for an appointment, document preparation, and any request for further information.
Prepare the correct checklist before attending
The exact evidence depends on the purpose of travel. For tourism applications, the official checklist includes items such as the application form, passport and UAE residence evidence, travel medical insurance, itinerary evidence, employment or sponsor evidence where relevant, and financial evidence. Use the current official checklist rather than a generic list, because the consulate may request additional documents.
