New Zealand visitor visa online application changes from 24 September 2026
Immigration New Zealand (INZ) has announced a further move to its enhanced Immigration Online system. From 24 September 2026, new applications for most listed visitor visa types must be made through enhanced Immigration Online rather than the old online system.
Who should check this change
This update is relevant to applicants planning a new New Zealand visitor visa application, including standard Visitor Visa applications and several other visitor-visa categories listed by INZ. It follows the move of Group Visitor Visa and Tour Escort Visitor Visa applications to enhanced Immigration Online on 24 August 2026.
What happens to an application already started in the old system
- If you have an existing draft application, INZ says you may still complete and submit it through the old system before 8 October 2026.
- From 8 October 2026, the specified old-system forms will close and any remaining drafts will be deleted.
- If you have already submitted an application, you do not need to submit it again. INZ says submitted applications will remain accessible in the old system for document uploads and responses until a decision is communicated.
Before starting your application
Use the official INZ visa page for your exact travel purpose and start a new application in the system shown there. Check the document and eligibility instructions that apply to your passport, residence status and reason for travel before submitting anything.
